Clear index.dat files
Index.dat files are used to store Internet history, Temporary Internet Files, cookies and other information about your Internet activity and can compromise your privacy as any person who has some knowledge about index.dat files and has access to your computer can see the history of your Internet activities.
Some of index.dat files are system files. They are used by Windows all the time (locked by Windows) and they can't be deleted manually. Index.dat files content is not deleted even if you clear browser history, Temporary Internet Files and cookies.
Using Clear All History Portable you can easily clear index.dat files content
• clear history index.dat file
• clear Temporary Internet Files index.dat
• clear cookies index.dat file
IECompatCache index.dat, PrivacIE index.dat and IEDownloadHistory index.dat are not locked by Windows and they can be deleted any time.

The fastest way to clear history tracks:
• Run Clear All History Portable
• Click the 'Tools' button in the program toolbar.
• Select the What to Clear item.
• Click the 'Quick select' button.
• Click the 'Clear all selected items' button or click 'Clear All'

Clear index.dat files content:
• Run Clear All History Portable
• Click the 'Tools' button in the toolbar.
• Select What to Clear -> Browser History.
• Select your browser (Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer, AOL Explorer, Maxthon).
• Select the necessary option(s) ('history index.dat', 'Temporary Internet Files index.dat' and/or 'cookies index.dat') under 'Clear index.dat files content'.
• Click the 'Clear' button or click the 'Clear All' button in the program toolbar.

 Note: If your index.dat file is too large the process of clearing takes too much time. To escape this problem you can set max size of index.dat file (MB) you want to be cleaned. The max size you can set for clearing is limited to 25 MB.

Clear index.dat files content automatically:
• Run Clear All History Portable
• Set the scheduler
• Select What to Clear -> Browser History.
• Select your browser (Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer, AOL Explorer, Maxthon).
• Select the necessary option(s) ('history index.dat', 'Temporary Internet Files index.dat' and/or 'cookies index.dat') under 'Clear index.dat files content'.
• Click the 'Apply' button.
